Air Quality Testing
Air Quality Testing
Beyond mold and allergens, there are innumerable compounds that can adversely impact indoor air quality. Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) encompass a wide range of chemicals used throughout our daily lives. These chemicals can off-gas causing vapors to impact indoor air quality. In homes and offices, VOC’s can come from a variety of sources including building materials, paints, petroleum products, cleaning supplies, air fresheners, and personal hygiene products. Many VOC’s are classified as carcinogens and have been shown to have both short term and long term health impacts.
Formaldehyde is a chemical used in the production of many building materials. As the materials age, formaldehyde off-gases impacting the indoor air quality of a building. Exposure to elevated formaldehyde levels can cause irritation to the eyes, nose, throat, and skin, and has been classified as a carcinogen.
Hovey Environmental LLC can sample for and evaluate the levels of VOC’s and formaldehyde in your home or office, and compare these levels to recognized standards to determine if elevated levels are present.
